Privacy
Taeppl doesn’t have a server. There’s no account, no login, no cloud.
Everything you record — audio, location, timestamps, handwritten labels — stays on your device. It’s never sent anywhere, never seen by us, never shared with anyone unless you choose to share a tape yourself.
What Taeppl accesses, and why
- Microphone — to record your tapes. Only active while you’re recording.
- Location — to tag where a recording happened, so it can show up later on your map of memories. Only captured at the moment you start recording.
You can turn either of these off anytime in your phone’s Settings. Taeppl will still work — you’ll just lose location tagging or the ability to record, depending on which you disable.
Sharing a tape
If you use Share to send a tape to someone, that audio file leaves your device the way any file you send does — through whatever app you choose to send it with (Messages, AirDrop, etc.). Taeppl itself has no part in that transfer beyond handing you the file.
Deleting your data
Deleting a tape in the app deletes it — audio, sessions, location, label. It’s not backed up anywhere, so once it’s gone, it’s gone.
That’s it. No analytics, no tracking, no third parties, no ads.
